Mackenzie Carpenter Hartford Concert reviews
Great show! ...almost
I've been seeing show for 40 years and maybe 5% have a good mix in the PA mains. Really enjoyed Mackenzie Carpenter and George Thorogood was fantastic. The kick drum mix really with the main problem that night. Both bands just kicked musically, however the same can't said for the FOH board mix. I have zero problem with high volume. I get it that live sound is a very difficult craft. Why do many sound people insist on this? Mackenzie Carpenter had the same kick drum problem, later in the show it was a bit better. Half of George's band was barely audible. I did all the live sound for most of the bands I've been in along with all the bass guitar duties. Yes my ears are beat up, but I can still hear a great drum mix no problem. Thundering kick drum in my chest just made it hard to enjoy the performance. It's really hard to drop the coin on big venue tickets today, unfortunately this show and many others I've been to will limit what I will shell out. Loud can sound great! See Peter Gabriel, amazing live sound for years. P.S. Saw Van Halen at Shoreline also years ago and that show was perfection!
